It’s no secret that Epic Universe struggles with ride uptime. On our team's last visit, 9 different rides went down while we were IN the line.

When a ride goes down, there’s always the question: Should I stay in line or should I leave and come back later? We didn't have a good answer, so we looked at our ride closure data over the last 30 days to investigate how often each ride goes down, and for how long.

We were also interested in the effect of closures on ride wait times – does everyone leave the line, making the wait shorter when the ride comes back up? Or do people stay, creating a pileup that makes the wait even longer?

Here's what we found out:

The trends were interesting. We expected Mine-Cart Madness and BATM to be bad, and they clearly have frequent, long closures. But the ride that goes down most often is actually Hiccup’s.

As to whether to stay or go? Our overall take is the lines don’t go up because of a closure, and in fact often go down. So if you haven’t been in line that long, LEAVE. Especially on Mike-Cart Madness since closures are often 45+ mins.
